Dream Tomica | Transformers Optimus Prime

Optimus Prime has been a semi-truck in various iteration, shape and form. When you mention of his name the first thing that comes to mind is the alternate mode that he turns into since making his first appearance in the classic cartoon that Teletran has scanned his vehicle form that would become part of the character’s identity. Takara Tomy, the Japanese toy manufacturer has produced countless Optimus Prime merchandise outside the action figure that appeared in 1984. The most significant product would be the non-transforming diecast cars. The company that also owned a diecast brand Tomica expanded to include Opitmus Prime as part of Dream Tomica.

12.01.2014 – Shockwave, the Military Operations Commander was left on planet Cybertron in the original cartoon. The one-eyed diabolical Decepticon’s only true loyalty will always be logic. The cold calculating scientist is one of the interesting characters in the classic Transformers series. His introduction in Transformers Prime: Beast Hunters is something more of a mad scientist that experiment on a lot of things. Just the previous version Shockwave don’t take sides, but only through logic is his true path just way his toy form does the same.

11.07.2014 – Friday was indeed a hectic weekend with the holiday season slowly creeping its way as early as November one might wonder if there’s a sale. There hasn’t been a huge price downs out there for Transformers product, but if there is expect a big crowd taking everything home not including the kitchen sink. There were interesting stiff from Age of Extinction and the former Transformers Prime toy line that’s now on a blue or yellow tag.

10.07.2014 – Celebrating “Thrilling 30” years as an iconic brand from a 1980s cartoon Transformers has become a global franchise enjoyed by long time fans and younger audience that has a blockbuster billion dollar film in Age of Extinction. Last Comic-Con International (SDCC) Hasbro teased a trailer of a new animated series that would possible continue the Transformers Prime series to new heights. The reveal what would be the titled “Robot in Disguise” not to be mistaken with the 2001 series. They also teased a short trailer featuring Bumblebee in the spotlight with new faces that he will lead to new adventures. The new “Robots in Disguise” have the aesthetics and designs of characters from Transformers Prime, but will this actually continue what the previous series has ended?

Toy Expo Philippines 2014: Transformers Booth & Display!

08.30.2014 – Yesterday was the opening of Toy Kingdom’s Toy Expo 2014, which is an annual event happening every two years. The first one which opened its doors back in 2012 presented a much celebrated occasion. For this year they have went ahead and opened Toy Expo to the public with a set of scheduled events. For Transformers they have a meet & greet with the friendly Autobots, but no other activities aside from exhibit area.

Transformers Prime: Ultra Magnus!

07.31.2014 – Ultra Magnus is military strategist and the leader of the Wreckers in Transformers Prime. He appears in the second episode ("Scattered") of the third season with a subtitle ‘Beast Hunters’ and voiced by Michael Ironside (Top Gun, Starship Troopers, SeaQuest DSV, X-Men: First Class). It’s fitting for Ironside to take the voice role of Ultra Magnus once famously held by the great Robert Stack in the 1986 animated film. Of course this version of Magnus has more military background done just a soldier quite like his role in SeaQuest DSV taking the leadership role in the absence of Optimus.

Predaking's wiki actually has a quote from him going "My armour is like tenfold shields, my teeth are swords, my claws spears, the shock of my tail is a thunderbolt, my wings a hurricane, and my breath death!"

Too bad Ultra Magnus kicked his butt and he had to retreat without having killed Wheeljack and all he could do was growl when Starscream made a snide comment about his failure.

Quite an inglorious debut for, as Shockwave put it, "The Ultimate Autobot Hunter"

Though I suppose Predaking did kick Optimus Prime's butt so badly that the Hammer wielding Ultra Magnus had to be introduced. (I swear if they use this to introduce a Rodimus Prime, someone will die).

Toy Sightings: Beast Hunters, Bot Shots & More!

04.09.2013 – Transformers Prime keeps on rolling with new figures and expanding the playsets for Legends Class size assortments. The Bot Shots toy line is expanding bringing some of the iconic characters based from the Prime series. These Bot Shots could have been greatly promoted on how it’s being played for the younger generation who are into table top games. It’s an impressive line more geared to those who are into fun and games. Transformers Prime expansion to Beast hunters has the latest Leader Class assortment featuring Predaking and a new version of Optimus Prime holding the Starsaber sword.

Dream Tomica: Transformers Bumblebee

03.24.2013 – The Urbana 500 muscle car is a fictional vehicle that was scanned by Bumblebee as his Earth vehicle upon arriving to the planet in the Transformers Prime TV series. It was sort of inspired based from the Chevrolet Camaro that the movie version Bumblebee has adapted in subsequent live action films. Dream Tomica a special series of pop culture vehicles where they acquired the rights to manufacture its die cast cars has include Transformers Prime to the list as part of the collectible that includes Hello Kitty, Pokemon, and Batman to name a few.

TF Toy Sightings and New Releases!

01.12.2013 – Earlier today was Playkit’s first distribution of the new Voyager Class wave for Transformers Generations featuring characters from the hit videogame “Fall of Cybertron” as well as other assortments that came with this series. There were other sightings of the new toys that include the US release Masterpiece Thundercracker which was a TRU exclusive as well as the new wave of Voyager Class figures from the Transformers Prime featuring Dark Energon version of Megatron and Optimus Prime. The start of the New Year usher the latest toys from Hasbro and there's plenty more to come as we're just starting the month!

Transformers Toy Sightings at Great World City Mall!

09.02.2012 – We rarely have toy sightings as the usual Transformers Prime and Fall of Cybertron has been fully stocked at some major toy stores at Toy Kingdom and Toys R’ Us. It’s hard to find the one per case characters as they always ended up in third party stores. World Great City Mall in Singapore has three mini stores that have interesting finds and one of them is Gifts Greetings which is located at the second level near the escalators.

Toy Expo Philippines 2012: TransFormers Booth & Collection Display!

08.22.2012 – The FIRST Toy Expo Philippines 2012 opened its doors to the press media to give everyone the preview what to expect in the 4-day event earlier today. The event is a mix of popular franchise and iconic characters from various forms of media. Of course we’re giving you a quick tour on what to see at the Transformers exhibit which features collections from various local fan groups. We have a representative participating in this event and that’s our very own Dark Lord Dungeon himself who is showcasing his entire repertoire of Optimus Prime from his collection.

Transformers Cyberverse Arcee (Legion Class)

Recently the local market has been flooded with Optimus Maximus battle-stations. I thought that it was cool that Optimus Maximus was here, but noted that there were no Cyberverse Legion Class figures in the market to man the station.

A few days ago, while walking down a small side-stall in Toys R' Us in Galleria, disgruntled that there was apparently nothing new, I saw them: A few Transformers Prime Cyberverse figures. I'm not sure why the quantities were so small, or why these particular figures were hidden and not on the more prominent display racks, but here they were.

This particular figure of the Autobot's "Stealth Fighter" Arcee, which stands a mere 2.6 inches tall - not counting her flaring shoulder blades - is from that tiny selection.

Weaponizer Optimus Prime

I'm personally not sure if this particular incarnation of Optimus Prime is canon. But given the fluid nature of Transformers as has been manifested in both the cartoons and the movies, I would not put it beyond Prime's abilities to manifest a pair of chain-guns.

And I've always thought that Optimus Prime is a bit under-gunned. Those big-broad shoulders definitely have room for additional weaponry. God-Ginrai showed us how cool it looked. But shoulder mounted weapons for Optimus Prime did not truly manifest. It took third-party groups to produce shoulder mounted weapons for Prime, particularly the Gears of War-2 Pack and the TAW-Sword:

Transformers Prime: Vehicon aka Eradicon (First Edition)

Presenting a Vehicon - AKA Eradicon - from the Transformers Prime Animated Series First Edition. There are a few issues that I have with the Vehicon.

The biggest happens to be its gender. It has a waif like figure which is fine because most Transformers Prime figures have waif like figures. But the Vehicon figure kinda also has... breasts (Like Arcee)... whereas the more macho male figures like Cliffjumper and Optimus Prime have flat barrel chests. Face it, with the glass on her chest, it even looks like she has lace covering her cleavage.

The only other booby looking chest that I know of would be Bulkhead's but then he's built like a Gorilla - complete with nipples.

It makes me wonder if this is a design flaw since the Vehicons were voiced by a guy.

But then the Vehicons have always been a source of much confusion.

The Hall of Heroes release New Transformers Prime Toys!

06.09.2012 – If you happen to be at the Robinsons Place Midtown in Ermita Manila chances are you might see the Toys R’ US “Hall of Heroes” event previously known as “World of Heroes” featuring the newest Hasbro products. The event started yesterday and it will run throughout the weekend. For the Transformers Fans out there who also collect the toys there will be restocks. There will also be new Philippine releases of the Transformers Prime toys that you have been anticipating for the past months that has been out in North America.

Transformers Prime on Cartoon Network Philippines!

06.05.2012 – Transformers Prime finally sets to debut in Philippine cable television on June 18, 2012. Finally! After a long wait the much viewed TV series in North America through the Hub Network gets to be shown on Cartoon Network Philippines. This precedes the previous TV series “Transformers Animated” which was shown back sometime in 2009. Just like the previous animated series the latest in Transformers Prime is accompanied by a slew of merchandise most notably the action figures produced by Hasbro and locally distributed by Playkit.

Sighted: Cyberverse Optimus Maximus!

06.03.2012 – Transformers Prime the latest series shown in the US cable channel The Hub Network is on its second season and continues to get more interesting as the episodes progressed with its dynanic stories. Led by Optimus Prime the five stranded Autobots battle the devious Decepticons just like in the classic series from 1984 that has been churning up new toys from Hasbro. Recently we sighted the latest seen in toy shelves. It’s not as massive as the twenty four inch Fortress Maximus but it will certainly give fair enough play for the kids who collects the Cyberverse scale figures which was original known in “Legend Class” size.

Transformers Prime: RID Official Release at Toy Kingdom!

04.23.2012 – During the launch of the new 6’ Marvel Legends size Avengers figures inside Toy Kingdom’s flagship store at the basement level of SM Megamall quietly new Transformers Prime Robots in Disguise assortments was also released last Saturday. Carded in white background Deluxe Class assortment of Arcee, Bumblebee, Breakdown, Cliffjumper, Hot Shot, Knock Out, Ratchet, Soundwave, Vehicon Drone, and Wheeljack was on display. The most common among the assortment was Arcee, Bumblebee and Hot Shot. The rest was separate and displayed individually in the table.

Transformers Prime Arms Micron TV CM!

03.07.2012 – Recently TakaraTomy updated their Youtube channel with its second TV CM of the Transformers Prime Arms Micron (The series known in North America as simply Transformers Prime). This shot sixteen second commercial features the main characters of the CG animated TV series shown in the US channel The Hub Networks. The series interest in toys is catching up in the land of the rising sun.
