TK Toy Expo 2024 | Hasbro, Jada & YoloPark

The last day of the Toy Kingdom Toy Expo was quite a busy spectacle for those who have been in the event for the last four days. Of course, there have been surprising reveals and other major activities happening around the event. But here’s a round-up of product tie-ins and some new ones to look forward to on local retail For Hasbro, the mainline Legacy United and Studio Series and sub-series continue to expand what the “Generation” flagship range of assortments is all about. In the past months, the roll-out availability has been slowed down due to the local distributor’s financial struggles emerging from the pandemic has been quite a challenge.

TF Sightings | SS86 Ratchet and Frenzy (Red)

Despite not having many new products in retail, the Toys R’ Us flagship store in Robinsons Galleria still manages to get a pinch of an update to their glass display shelf whenever the local distributor has for select stores have foot traffic that has caused some controversy for some local collectors not having them nearby theirs. Not even its store rival Toy Kingdom flagship store in SM Megamall, which was a few blocks away with a similar glass display, even gets a decent update with all the silent word of mouth going around that the local distributor is tightening their belts due to the rise of interest rate and price point hike going up TRU still gets new stock.

There’s not many new sightings nearby Makati area, but suddenly in some places where not most people thread to visit you find that some of the retail stores get their new wave of Legacy unnoticed. It’s not that the global market is changing after the pandemic it’s all about market strategy for most stores like Toy Kingdom. And just that, The Wave 2 Deluxe and Commander Class has a subtle appearance in a place, where rarely is an off-grid place. But for those passionate enough they won’t let any stone unturned and this new world is certainly a challenging one to find these on display are most of the time do not make it to the display since TK has already shopping for their customers on Viber.

The new Transformers assortments featuring the Velocitron Spedia 500 brings in also the new wave of Legacy as previously reported. There’s more where that came from, and surely there is no delay this time or short on stocks to fill up the retail isle that has been depleted post-pandemic. Not all retail stores are carrying all these new assortments, and the local distributor is more strategic with the locations with more foot traffic than just stocking up every branch that’s not getting enough people to pass by, and the term ‘hole in the wall’ seems like a thing of the past if you notice some stores with no new Transformers.

Just when you thought Transformers Legacy will be the only assortment that would be seen in Philippine retail this popped up unexpectedly at one of the selected Toys R’ Us Stores that still getting new assortments once in a while comparable to the other branches that haven’t seen the light of day. The Velocitron Speedia 500 Collection was one of those assortments that is only for Walmart Exclusive stores has been on display for the last few couple days, but they’re not as plentiful as most new Transformers toys displayed in the past. They fly off the shelves and rarely get any new stock…

TF Sightings | Legacy at TRU Glorietta

Transformers Legacy is slowly appearing on Philippine retail as previously reported. There are some of the assortments did not made it to the display due to immediate high demand to particular characters that were part of Wave 1, and there also those that prior to the arrival there have been people keeping an eye on this release. Finally, Toys R’ Us has gotten their allocation as most countries have started to report their local sightings. The Legacy has arrived and let’s hope plenty more to will make it to the shelves as this latest sighting takes you to the Glorietta branch for TRU, where the ones never seen in the previous report will be updated here…

TF Sightings | Legacy at TK Makati

The highly anticipated follow-up to the Generations toyline after Kingdom introduces Legacy, which is a new beginning for the Transformers brand that has been talked about since the later part of 2021. It has already appeared in select markets in Asia, and it has been sighted recently in the Philippines. Legacy is an entirely new toyline expanding the Generations branding, and also have some carry over from the previous trilogy that has been a ‘shoo-in’ until the brand's new range assortments has been officially released for retail consumer. This was expected to arrive in the local scene since the announcement of the April 2022 street date.

The past few days have been quite a surprise if you’re keeping eye on the War for Cybertron: Kingdom. Local retail is slowly ramping up their shelf displays and for the stores that gets a complete assortment it is a rarity. Though it might be too early to celebrate surely there’s more where that came from. In the case of Toys R’ Us they’re the store that get most out of the new stuff. As mentioned before not all stores get their shelves updated this is due to the strategic location of the stores for the reason they’re getting new stuff while the others aren’t. Though it appears to be unfair but at the end of the day it is a business tactic why these stores are updated compared to the others even if the store carries the same name. If you’re not from Makati City you’ll be surprised.

TF Sightings | Toy Kingdom in SM Makati

War for Cybertron: Kingdom is slowly getting restocked in selected retail stores in Metro Manila. But is it enough to give the market the demand it needs? Well, depends on which area you’re located, but the local distributor continues to make sure there are enough for everyone despite growing numbers of interest for the toy brand that made Hasbro continue to make toys for the big boys. Despite the challenging logistic demand is it enough? The third installment of the War Far Cybertron Trilogy in Kingdom has had a rough start being stocked late in January 202i making them fly off the shelves instantaneously not even lasting a week. For those who had limited access to this product there is hope.

By now everyone is getting the first wave of WFC: Kingdom, which started appearing in local retail at the tail end of January 2021. But not all stores have it as most that get the stock are the ones that get foot traffic. With the pandemic continues in 2021 there will be stores that receive restocks. Though, not enough to fulfill the market in areas that still needs to have them. In the stores in Makati City, there are quite a few that gets them on the shelves. Most of the first wave for WFC: Kingdom is broken up. Some of the highly sought after characters don’t actually make it to the display it is either that the product gets bought online or it was not included in the delivery. TF Sightings | Earthrise Wave 2 at Toys R' Us!

There has been a slow build of updates of new Transformers toys in the retail front that some might not be updated. Lately, with the pandemic there was a pushback on the release of new case assortment of succeeding wave from War For Cybertron: Earthrise, though the allotted quantities were not enough they still keep arriving in spurts with all that they are still good news. In the past weeks the figures has arrived like the Commander Class Sky Lynx and the Titan Class Scorponok is fully stocked now in major retail stores. This includes the Hasbro Selects exclusives that is only sold online can be seen on retail like Grease Pit, Exhaust, and the Micromaster Cassette which gives the locals this special opportunity.

TF Sightings | Landmark Toy Section Re-Opens

If you’re still living in the bubble or no access to commute from one city to another or unaware of the toy shops in Makati City here’s a bit of update for those who are just passing through Landmark Makati and still wondering when the third level part of the department store’s toy section will be accessible for everyone. Well, you’re in a bit of good news that it has finally re-opened after all non-essential stores were closed in the middle of March 2020. It is the only toy section of Makati that has been closed since all stores started opening by June 1st. The third level of the Landmark department store has been off-limits since they started serving customers again with the general re-open of businesses in the area.

02.19.2020 - Sometimes the best places to find the Transformers figure that you missed are the location that had enough foot traffic and it is off the radar namely before going south bound. In case you’re in the hunt for the latest wave from Siege and Cyberverse maybe it must be the right timing for you to find it at Toy Kingdom in SM MoA. There are only two stores in SM Mall of Asia and that’s in Toy Kingdom and TK Express inside The SM Store (Department Store). Rarely, there is something worth the trip to this place unless they have restocked the latest Transformers from War For Cybertron and the animated series in Cyberverse which was sighted today!

02.17.2020 – If you’re Manila-based toy collector chances are you already are familiar with the places around the metro. The usual places people frequent are the most accessible part of Greenhills, which is the mecca for anything that collector’s from other countries want to make the trip. But sometimes the retail stores nearby are sometimes overlooked for new Transformers toys by Hasbro that are distributed by Playkit Inc, which recently had brought the War For Cybretron: Siege Wave 4 Deluxe Class assortment that some thought that was exclusive only to some parts of Southeast Asia and Australasia.

02.14.2020 – At the height of the news that War For Cybertron: Siege Wave 4 Deluxe Class assortment has finally started to appear in Philippine retail in the past few days through group forums that was supposed to be available in the final quarter of 2019, but turns out what arrived was the final wave assortment. The final wave assortment would turn out to be Crosshairs and Spinister. Eventually, Wave 4 started appearing in Australian and Malaysian retail. But that changed as sighting reports dated on 11 February 2020 that local Toys R’ Us stores have them already. But as of this sighting report they are slowly disappearing.

01.26.2020 – In case you haven’t been to Babes Children’s World, a specialty toy store which is located in the second level of Virra Mall in Greenhills has been around importing and also selling toys from local distributors in the Philippines. The last time sighting reports on what they have in stock was almost eight months ago. This time just a quick look at the store’s available assortments from the Transformers brand at the same time a sneak peek of their other products that you may find here. Interesting enough as an alternative for those who can’t find the character or toy that they can’t get at local retail is the second or third best thing to make a visit.

12.20.2019 – The festive season is almost here but for some who can’t find any new stuff on retail chances are there’s a ‘hole in the wall’ kind of store that has never been visited or have seen if there is a gem that you’re looking for. But then again with the horrid Manila traffic turning up to eleven there’s not enough time to get from A to B. However, there are intrepid individuals out there that have been kind enough to make the trip by two wheels or on foot to get to that place. Of course, that place is Toy Kingdom’s Lucky Chinatown branch, which is located at the heart of Binondo that is rarely a location you’ll find the ones you are looking for namely Transformers toys!

05.29.2019 – In Metro Manila there have so many options for collectors to acquire their coveted toys ranging from diecast cars to high end actions figures. Local retail is fairly standard default option for anything that appears in every toy shelf in the country. But sometimes it’s quite a challenge if the one you looking for is sold out. There are A LOT of specialty shops out there that offer the same toys, but sometimes the price is not about right. You’d be surprised that some of the toys that already disappeared in toy shelves end up in those stores, but not Babes Children’s World.

TF Sightings | Search for LG-25 Hot Rod

05.28.2019 – There was an unexpected sighting yesterday at Toy Kingdom’s flagship store in SM Megamall. The toys that were sighted are Evolution Nemesis Prime (Amazon Exclusive), Transformers Legends Hot Rodimus, and Bumblebee Vol. 1 Retro Rock Garage that were available in the store. In the three mentioned the most sought after is the Transformers Legends LG-25, which Takara Tomy version of Titans Masters Autobot Hot Rod that was only available in selected markets outside Japan until it became available locally.
