TF Sightings | Virra Mall & Galleria

02.17.2020 – If you’re Manila-based toy collector chances are you already are familiar with the places around the metro. The usual places people frequent are the most accessible part of Greenhills, which is the mecca for anything that collector’s from other countries want to make the trip.

But sometimes the retail stores nearby are sometimes overlooked for new Transformers toys by Hasbro that are distributed by Playkit Inc, which recently had brought the War For Cybretron: Siege Wave 4 Deluxe Class assortment that some thought that was exclusive only to some parts of Southeast Asia and Australasia.

Then again recent sightings had become rampant that demand can’t cope to fill up majority of retail stores that haven’t had the newer wave assortment or the ones that were sold out. It is a sign that Playkit Inc should look that the population of the toy collecting community that are into the Transformers brand has grown in the last decade. They should not only cater to the collecting market, but also the retail in general that should include parents.

But to promote these toys require the media itself, which are not toy reviewers, but the support of the animation associated with it like the latest Transformers Cyberverse being aired on Cartoon Network. But this will depend on the cable channel if they carry it widely in the Southeast Asian market.

The other way is through in-store promotion, but to promote it there are costs and it up to the distributor on how they should keep the interest of these this brand going aside from the word of mouth that has been tried and tested. Most collectors or parents doesn’t know about the comicbook tie-ups it depends now on their perspective how well they accept the brand for now here are some sightings from Sunday.

Babes Children’s World

This little specialty store would be considered a semi-retail shop as well as their pricepoint is similar to what the local retail has to offer. Babes have been around since the 1980s and continue to cater as the “alternative” or “last resort” shop if you can’t find the characters that you missed getting.

They mostly ahead in what they carry and some of the toys doesn’t even appear on major retail that they have in stock are quite a surprise. Their FB Group Community is one of the best alternative ways to get ahead of what’s the next toy they’ll be having in their shop and here are some notable ones they have as noted below:

Now Available

SIEGE | Wave 4 (Retail at ₱999.75 Pesos)
  • WFC-S41 Barricade
  • WFC-S42 Autobot Impactor

Toy Kingdom Virra Mall

Just across Babes Children’s World is Toy Kingdom that is also located in the second level of Virra Mall in Greenhills. It is largely the one get most foot traffic that their selections of Transformers are sold out. But even though they sold out on the Deluxe Class Wave 4 assortment for Siege they still have the Studio Series.

Wave 5 (Retail at ₱1,399.75 Pesos)
  • 26 WWII Bumblebee (The Last Knight)
  • 27 Clunker Bumblebee (Transformers)
  • 28 Barricade (Transformers)
  • 29 Sideswipe (Dark of the Moon)
  • 30 Crankcase (Dark of the Moon)

Toys R’ Us Robinsons Galleria

The flagship store is the biggest branch for TRU in the country, but that doesn’t mean it has the ones you need. Sometimes they don’t have enough to supply a hungry Transformers collector’s market unlike a decade ago. But what makes it unique is how the store set up is an attraction for those not based in Manila.

Although there are other gems in this store that’s not a Transformers toy it is still a place to make the trip if you’re from another country. Take note how Cybertron/Galaxy Force Optimus Prime/Convoy still burst at the wall as previously featured on BWTF.com
