TF Sightings | TRU Robinsons Galleria

There’s not many new sightings nearby Makati area, but suddenly in some places where not most people thread to visit you find that some of the retail stores get their new wave of Legacy unnoticed. It’s not that the global market is changing after the pandemic it’s all about market strategy for most stores like Toy Kingdom.

And just that, The Wave 2 Deluxe and Commander Class has a subtle appearance in a place, where rarely is an off-grid place. But for those passionate enough they won’t let any stone unturned and this new world is certainly a challenging one to find these on display are most of the time do not make it to the display since TK has already shopping for their customers on Viber.

Lately, Playkit has been silent about any further updates while specialty stores in Greenhills have already the latest Legacy United and Studio Series assortment. Even the Toys R’ Us flagship store in Pasig City has not been up-to-date recently with the most recent Transformers toys that most have been clamoring about.

Playkit has been scaling back recently when it comes to the latest Hasbro products that also include Transformers. If you haven’t been an annual visitor of the Toy Kingdom Toy Warehouse Sale, which was held last month you won’t even find the older Legacy or any particular Transformers assortments on clearance as most of them are still in their original retail pricing.

Shinier Behind the Glass

It’s no surprise that even the TRU flagship store still has the last assortment from Legacy Evolution behind these glass displays along with other ‘premium’ Hasbro products from the last six months. It is quite a letdown, to say the least, that they’re all being on their retail price point shows Playkit is not going to have them on clearance.

The changes in the reality of the economy and the environment that led TRU to put all their products in this type of display is because of the random theft that has happened during the height of the pandemic and most people, ’ve become desperate that local distributors lost an insane amount of money because nobody was around.

Questionable Future

There have been rumours that Playkit slowly will only distribute low-cost products, and will still retain the rights to be Hasbro’s local distributor. There have been questions and talks about another local distributor taking the Hasbro brand and becoming the new distributor.

But that’s all up in the air what’s going to happen as the market looks to be shrinking due to poor sales and price hikes? It is quite a sight if you rarely visit this store just to discover that TRU still has Transformers and other Hasbro products in this part. But for the longtime fan and collector, this is not enough to keep up with interest when only those with deep pockets have access to it.

This is the part Hasbro is not earning with a lack of support and enthusiasm for the brand to falter overseas because its representatives who distribute their product are not doing their job and cutting costs to skip waves due to unforeseen circumstances that include how the world changed in a matter of 2-3 years and why these are now behind glass displays than just in their shelves that were way different five years ago.

It is unfortunate, that the future is not clear if Playkit is still the same company that would distribute a majority of the Hasbro products that include the Transformers. A random local toy collector won’t care to bother, and would just whine easily to give up on finding out what is happening to the brand.

But in case you are in the area of Pasig City, the TRU flagship store has some that you might have missed out on when these assortments were being released. For now, this year is done and next will have optimism that whoever gets to be the new distributor let’s all hope they don’t repeat the same mistakes the last one has done.
