Besides being the manservant to Sir Edmund Burton he is also safeguarded generations of Witwiccans for seven centuries, protecting and maintaining the family's collection of secret artifacts. As a butler, bodyguard, and chauffeur, he's everything you could ask for—polite, proper, possessing a healthy respect for tradition, and unafraid to throw out a dry quip or two.
Hasbro previously released the Cogman figure that is also a Titan Master in 2017 as part the fourth and final wave of The Last Knight Premier Edition Deluxe Class lineup with greyish paint wash. But for the Studio Series it gets a revival release for 2019 but this time taking a closer look not only the figure and its accessories that came with.
But also the latest packaging that is part of this new range for the Studio Series that not only streamlines the Movie Series but improves on the previous figure.
Window Type Packaging | Rating: 5 Robot Points
Hasbro and Takara Tomy has unveiled the Studio Series since 2018 which originally celebrates the very first live-action film that built the Transformers movie franchise by collectively establishing the Movie Series uniformly through the window-type box featuring image based on the character in the film that can be seen in the front and side while at the back having a short description as well as details from what film the character first appeared.
This also includes a cardboard display depicting the London chase with the TRF and MI6, which the backdrop featured from separate figures representing the same scene are designed to be displayed side-by-side. It takes inspiration from the first movie’s style of packaging for the boxed figures like the two-packs like the Bumblebee versus Barricade set that also featured a backdrop.
Robot Mode: Cogman | Rating: 5 Robot Points
When you take Cogman out of the plastic tray that came packaged with the cardboard backdrop you can see how immaculate it was tied down along with the Talisman sword and you measure the figure being less than six inches tall in all angles the new silver paint wash can be seen with details now enhanced like the cogs on his body.
Though technically the same figure from the 2017 it is just a redeco, but it is a far improvement from the later even though it does not have a waist joint to feature Cogman in most intricate action poses. But an alternative option for those who missed getting the original release of the figure with far better color.
Comparison with previous figures in Deluxe Class range can be seen that Hasbro and Takara Tomy has scaled down the characters to fit ‘in this movie universe’ as obvious with the same class assortment with the Movie Series Bumblebee from the 2007 film with a variant head released in 2008.
Featured Articulation:

- Swivel Elbows
- Ball-Jointed Hips
- Head Movement Due to the Titan Master
Titan Master: Cogman | Rating: 5 Robot Points
With all characters appearing in the movie series getting a much improved version in the Studio Series Cogman didn’t get a new mold, but a premium version of the previous figure with silver paint since there’s no need to change. Because Cogman is already unique having the Titan Master Gimmick similar to the Titans Return range of figures that he can interact from Deluxe and Voyager Class assortment.
You can use Cogman in head mode to the Titans Return figures and vice versa with the Titan Master from that series like Sawback as depicted in the images in this review (conveniently interpreting the screw inside the figure's chest as the circular section on Cogman's onscreen chest), capable of transforming into his diminutive "true" robot mode.
Transformation | Difficulty Rating: 3 Robot Points
There’s no level of difficulty in transforming Cogman from robot to vehicle mode as indicated in the instruction manual it only takes sixteen steps. Just take care of folding and moving the parts to avoid scratching of the paint as well as not have a heavy handed hand to damage the figure even though it is not complicated to transform it.
Vehicle Mode: Aston Martin DB 11 | Rating: 4 Robot Points
The Aston Martin is a grand tourer that was released in 2016 with that striking ‘Aeroblade’ intakes in the front strakes, which stands out from its previous model adds personality to the character in the film. It's not just a pretty face. This is an extremely good car, phenomenally good. Just like Cogman it is unique among the licenced cars that appeared in the Transformers film franchise.
Like all figures that has a Titan Master, it can also let “true” robot mode Cogman sit in the right-side driver seat along with another Titan Master, where you can peg one part of their leg as you can see in the in tasteless dark grey interior.
It is in the Taraka Tomy signature taking back to the Diaclone Series that the roof of the car opens up, not the doors, but the roof for you to be able to put two Titan Masters seated and you can see the less-detailed steering wheel.
Car Features:
- Can store Talisman underneath
- Opening roof
- Can Seat Two Titan Master
- Detailed Aesthetics based on the Aston Martin DB11
Overall Cogman is unique in the Studio Series that features a Titan Master, which did not appear in the film. But only mentions that he is a Headmaster, that makes up in toy form that this Autobot can do. It is rare have a difference license brand used into film that is generally a General Motors, but Cogman being a unique stands out as a Aston Martin DB11 and why would you not ignore it?
When you talk about an Aston Martin it is always a James Bond car even if Cogman takes its form it still works since this Autobot speaks with an English accent just like Sir Edward Burton. But of all its entirety Cogman is unique that’s enough to take notice being a Titan Master and can hang out with his Titan Master friends is good enough for a little bit of joy ride.
