06.14.2012 – Sideswipe one of the original iconic characters from the Generation One series from 1984. The less sociopath twin brother of Sunstreaker transforming into the Lamborghini “New Countach” LP500S based from the actual car of the same name which was manufactured from 1974 to 1990.
Sideswipe known as Lambor in Japan was originally one of Takara’s Pre-Transformers products under the Diaclone toyline. The vintage Sideswipe was repackaged along with the other previous toys made by the Japanese manufacturer into the Transformers toys we have seen. |
The same figure has been reissued several times with different variation in each release. After 28 years Takara Tomy gives “Ramboru” a Masterpiece Edition which will be released on October 28, 2012. The reports of its release and teaser images have given this famed Cybertronian a renewed interest.
Officially E-Hobby Japan has exclusively released product photos of their website which has announced that is now available to be pre-ordered prior to its released date.
We pay tribute and parodied the images from the said website and take a special photo review look of the TF Collection Number 7 Lambor which was originally released sometime in late 2003.
This version sports “blue eyes” compared to the previous release and packaged in book type edition which commemorates this figure in its prestigious version to celebrate Transformers 20th Anniversary in 2004. The size comparison with Encore series Convoy (Optimus Prime) just likes its Masterpiece Edition.
After this version it was never reissued again until Takara Tomy announced that they will be producing the Masterpiece Edition which was also approved by Volkswagen Group to use the likeness of the Lamborghini “New Countach” LP500S complete with the supewr car’s badge and detailing.
The Masterpiece Edition takes queues from the original animation appearance complete with his pile driver knuckles and jet pack that Convoy (Optimus Prime) desperately borrowed in the last part of “More Than Meets The Eye” pilot episode in introducing the cartoon back in 1984.
Overall Lambor (Sideswipe) released in 2003 under the Transformers Collections Series prior to Takara’s merger with Tomy in 2006 is a great addition to those fans who followed this character. If there’s a Sideswipe then Sunstreaker is not far behind to be released also in Masterpiece Edition.
But we hopefully want to see a reissue of the vintage Sunstreaker first before we get our hands on getting the Masterpiece Edition and we hope Takara Tomy is reading this.
MP-12 Lambor (Sideswipe) will be released officially on October 2012 so pre-order yours now at E-Hobby Japan!
