Philippine News: Bumblebee Sighted in Local Riot

03.21.2010 - In the Philippines there's nothing better of a topic than policits. Even in social media it has becoming the thing that some people want to get their attention into their timelines.

But when you talk about Bumblebee getting a taste of politics, which was in the front headline image of the Philippine Daily Inquirer there's no denyinng that people will get their eyeballs on the paper. All bets are off if you haven't seen this issue or have you missed it?

In reality, the attention grabbing image of a cosplayer dressed as the famed yellow Autobot is hilarious and at the same timeas a propaganda tool isn't that funny at all.

The character is popular nowadays with the blockbuster live action movies, which the franchise is getting some serious airtime with a bit of flair as local elections in the country is about to come up this May, and that is less than two months away from ever happening.

With all honeslty, we like to be entertained and be wowed by the movies or television that we watch, but to associate a character as their political marketing tool is not funny, and it becomes something different. Filipinos like to have part of their discussion online includes politics because it makes them relevant in the discussion. But you put them in a liofe away from the "fandom" or a hobby they become irrelevant to not having the attention to them is like not having a real life.

We can do that without the attention and appeciate the hobby as it is, but some might ruin it and we can look at the angle that it's their way of expressing things. But honestly, we have our opinions and that counts to finding our own enjoyment in the sandbox. We can respect the absurdity and all that, and we can respect that. But some might not take it the way it was in becoming an 'off-topic' to be use for other things and this is what we see in the local news.

It is good content though, but it takes away what makes these innocent to become and used is as part of the "color propaganda" for their politics to hype it up that becomes part of them. It's good for them, but maybe some might scale it down and be mindful that they are using a copyright IP for something else, and that makes it innapropriate why it takes the fun out of the character's innocense.

Just a bit of two cents there for the future who might want to try use the character for their own propaganda, and the suggestion is don't.
