TF Fan Screenings: Energized Sunday

08.26.2006 – Another Sunday at JoeShred’s Crib was held for the usual monthly TF Fans Screening with fellow TF Fans getting to watch some of the Japanese episodes of Super-Link aka Transformers Energon, TF fan-made episodes of My Little Transformers and a lot of discussions only true passionate fans would relate, and congregate the same interest that started this hobby.

But besides the in-person fan discussions with some bonding beyond the interest of alien robots, there are also the toy showcase or what the group share in their “Show & Tell” segment on a Sunday afternoon as this is one of the members of a fan community discuss about the pros & cons of the specific character and many more.

This is not the first time the mini fan gathering resumes for this month as the usual TF Fan Screening is held on the last Sunday of each month. The screening list was a bit disorganized as the assigned librarian, but the latest episodes of Super-Link and a few episodes of My Little Transformers have been all set up for late afternoon viewing.

Of course, the community has younger members who were present in the neighborhood who contributed the episodes of MLTF and their “Show & Tell” from their ever-growing collection. The group is open to younger members to keep the community growing besides having longtime fans who have been with the group since the founding and organizing the earlier meet-ups going back to 2002.

Energon Powered Pony

Since this is a private mini-gathering for members of the group who have been in the forums and other community sites, where you can find TFPH members participating in fan discussions and interest in the latest installment of fiction for Transformers with Energon being the latest toyline from Hasbro the toys are also the discussion.

But sometimes, things go off-tangent in recognizing other TF Fandom-related stuff happening in other countries like in the US with the fan-made stop motion animation featuring both Hasbro’s brands mashing it up with My Little Transformers that most discovered online through YouTube.

Cardboard Formers

For this showcase, a spotlight is put on some homemade cardboard Transformers that shows that one member was very young he couldn’t afford to buy the toys with his lunch money so he made these interesting creations. It is truly remarkable that a passionate fan as one of the members brought this to the meet and it was the favorite thing that the younger members were in awe about.

They don’t transform but the amount of time putting it together to get a cartoon-accurate G1 Optimus Prime, Megatron, and Skywarp is stuff no kid from that era would dare thread to imagine like it came out from his TV set and this was the result of a fan flexing his creativity cutting Carolina and coloring it with markers.

Toy Showcase and win a Friend

If there is a meet-up you can never have the actual toys to show for and at the same time have the opportunity to play with approval from one of the members who brought their latest toy. It’s an in-person discussion about the Transformers they bring to the meet-up while the others are engrossed in reading official guidebooks or watching the episodes of Super-Link being screened it is a live version of what most TF Fans do in an online toy forum.

It can be something from their childhood or their recently acquired TF character that they don’t know that gets examined in this space with other like-minded individuals who are fans of this hobby. You can see different reactions and how they truly got into this fandom and wanted to know things about the world of Transformers.

But with all that is the interactivity among people whom they only knew from their forum handles can now put the names to the faces, and some become friends and foster camaraderie with this interest.

Til’ the Next Meet-Up

Some parting shots from the attendees appear in the photos and behind the scenes. We welcome new faces who did not stay long to the end of this mini fan gathering but were present in some of the parting shots during the early hours talking about their interest in the current shows and at the same time checking out the latest toys.

Acknowledgments to JoeShred who graciously opened his doors for the monthly meet-up in the last two years and was present behind the scenes sharing his famous Rattrap from Beast Machines that’s quite radical. Always grateful for his kindness in hosting the mini-meet=ups that have been part of this group’s identity.

Well, until the next meet-up more TF Fan Screenings are happening soon, just keep on reading updates on this page, and Til’ All are One!
