TF Sightings: Dunkin Donuts TF4 Cup Toppers!

06.24.2014 – The TRANSFORMERS Age of Extinction steamrolls its screening in less than 48 hours and previous toy launches and merchandise has been revealed. It’s no surprise Hasbro is milking the property for all its worth to tie-up with some of the big names when it comes to merchandise.

In the Philippines whenever a new Transformers film has been promoted since 2007 there have been merchandise and meal toys from fast food restaurants. For ‘TF AOE’ Dunkin Donuts is promoting their Cup Toppers and also having an exclusive box depicting the characters around their product.

This has been reported previously about the Cup Toppers which features Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, and Drift for you to collect all three by purchasing a dozen donuts (which is PhP 220.00 pesos around $5.10 US dollars) and adding PhP 55.00 pesos ($1.25 US dollars) to get one.

For hardcore collectors it must be a challenge to first purchase a dozen donuts to acquire all three characters. You can’t purchase a dozen donuts and can get all three to complete a set.

Taking a closer look at each figurine the sculpting is not as what you expect, but the details for each one of them will definitely attract the young ones and collectors to completing them. Of course the most popular ones are Optimus Prime and Bumblebee for mainstream followers of the franchise leaving Drift as the relatively unknown unless you’ve read the comic books about the character.

The Cup Toppers stands 3-4 inch tall and out of the three, Bumblebee is the only one not having a weapon. Optimus Prime is armed with his sword and shield while Drift is in his action pose with his katana blade ready to strike.

Each figure comes with a base where they can’t be removed as they are part of the cover for your drink much like similar to what SM Cinemas’ concessioners are selling, which features a movie with a merchandise where you can only acquire a particular character when you purchase a drink or that’s bundled with your popcorn.

This is not the first time Dunkin Donuts has a tie-up to promote the TRANSFORMERS brand as back in 2010 they had the Transformers Animated tumblers, which featured animated artwork of Optimus Prime and Bumblebee based from the Cartoon Network series from 2008.

If you happen to see this at your local Dunkin Donut store check it out, but depends if you’re interested and worth the purchase of a dozen donuts for a non-articulated figurine.

Surely the young ones who are excited to see this film would certainly get either Optimus Prime or Bumblebee. Transformers Age of Extinction will be in Philippine cinemas on June 25, 2014 from Universal Pictures to be distributed locally by Columbia Pictures PH!

The Dunkin Donuts Transformers Age of Extinction Cup Toppers is promotions only in the Philippines check your region for availability.
