| 09.21.2012 – Great Toys store is a retail shop that started importing toys not available to retail. The majority of the toys being brought in are not even sold at local retail. The store had a lot of firsts in 2002 as one of the pioneer exhibitors for the original Toy Convention that was held at the conference hall in SM Megamall before its expansion and moving to the main Megatrade Hall.
It was founded by Malvin Lim, who is a toy collector turned businessman as being into super robots that also include transformers and various toy brands. Over the years, the business that he started a decade ago also expanded the store locations from North to South there’s a Great Toys store that opened. |
This time, he expands into the biggest one yet. The Annapolis store is bigger boasting well-lighted glass shelves and featuring a plethora of brands that he has had access to over the last five years. It is no longer just a hobby or a side business. Great Toys store also now carters’ sports gear that started with his parents down to his older brother who now helps him with the business.
The new Annapolis store is the biggest branch aside from the smaller branch that originated the store located in Shoppesville Arcade in the Greenhills, San Juan. But most of the shop carries are the Transformers brand not sold on local retail. It’s mostly made the store known for bringing the ones produced by Takara Tomy.
Great Toys will always be synonymous with Transformers as it was his mostly bread and butter aside from the Bandai products that are slowly taking over the store’s main product line that includes the premium products also not seen being sold on general retail, which is why this store stands out.
